If you have little ones in your family that love LEGOS, LEGOLAND is a great fun park for your family to spend a day or two. Located in Carlsbad, Ca., LEGOLAND spans 128 acres and has more than 60 rides, attractions and shows.

About the park

LEGOLAND is an all-ages park, however it is geared specifically towards youngsters ages 2 - 12.

There are several different areas within LEGOLAND including the Beginning, Dino Island, DUPLO Village, Fun Town, Castle Hill, Land of Adventure, Imagination Zone and Miniland USA.

The Beginning is an important part of the park (to parents) because it’s where you can find guest services, rent strollers or a locker, plan to meet if you get separated, get first aid, etc. If you end up doing some shopping in the park, you can also pick up your packages here.

There is a Minifigure Market at the Beginning, which is helpful in two ways: You can buy Minifigures on the way in to trade with park employees (like trading pins at Disneyland); or you can buy Minifigures as a souvenir on the way out after a fun day.

LEGOLAND Water Park, LEGO CHIMA Water Park and SEA LIFE Aquarium are located on the LEGOLAND Resort, however, admission is separate from LEGOLAND. You can purchase Hopper Tickets to visit select parks - or all the parks - for one price.

Rides, attractions and shows

Now for the fun! LEGOLAND has more than 60 rides, attractions and shows, so there really is something for everyone. The LEGOLAND website features an interactive map where you can sort rides by the passenger’s required height. There are a number of rides and attractions that do not have a height requirement and are therefore great for just about anyone in your family.

A few activities for children of any age (and height) include the LEGO Factory Tour where kids can see how LEGOs are molded, decorated, assembled and packaged; Pharaoh’s Revenge where parents and kids can fire foam balls at targets; and the Enchanted Walk, where you can stroll through a garden with LEGO models of animals native to California.

A couple of the rides for which children need to be at least 34” tall to ride by themselves include: Flight Squadron, where kids and adults can fly their own bi-plane; and Lost Kingdom Adventure, an Indian Jones-esque ride, where kids seek to recover stolen ancient treasure by blasting targets with laser guns.

Rides for older children at least 42” tall (to ride by themselves) include LEGO TECHNIC Coaster and BIONICLE Blaster. Climb in a life-size LEGO TECHNIC vehicle for a wild roller coaster ride. For the BIONICLE Blaster, climb into a circular car that twists and spins as fast as you’d like for it to go!

Please visit the interactive map for more information about height restrictions for rides. When you get to the map, click on the drop down menu that says Show All to sort rides and attractions by the minimum height requirement.

Sculptures and Miniland USA

There are more than 30,000 LEGO models throughout LEGOLAND Resort created out of more than 60 million LEGO bricks. The largest sculpture is Bronty, the bright red brontosaurus standing at the entrance of the park. Bronty is made entirely of LEGOS, is 9 feet tall and 34 feet long.

Make sure you take the time to explore Miniland USA, which includes reproductions of seven areas of the United States, all constructed with 20 million LEGO bricks in 1:20 scale.

Parent Swap

LEGOLAND offers Parent Swap, a program for parents who have kids that meet and don’t meet the minimum height restriction for rides. Parent Swap allows both parents to enjoy the experience. All members of the party are required to wait in line together. When you reach the front, let the ride operator know of your intention, so that he/she can accommodate you. When the first ride is over, the parents may then switch places and the other parent can then ride with the older child.

After a fun-filled day at LEGOLAND, head back to relax in your beautiful Disneyland vacation rental home by My Castle House.
