Disneyland in May: The Diamond Celebration

If you’re planning a trip to visit the happiest place on earth this year, may we recommend visiting Disneyland in May? Historically, the month of May is a great time to visit because the crowd level is low and the temperatures are near perfect. However, May 2015 will be an especially exciting time to visit Disneyland because the park will begin celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Disneyland 60th Anniversary Details

Did you know Disneyland Park opened July 17, 1955? That means Disneyland celebrates 60 years this summer, marking six decades of fun for kids of all ages. Disneyland's Diamond Celebration will kick off May 22, 2015, with “dazzling entertainment and sparkling surprises, including three new nighttime spectaculars making their in-park debuts.”

During the day, look for exciting 60th anniversary decorations throughout the park, especially on Main Street, USA. At night, don’t miss the three new nighttime featured events including:

• Paint the Night, a special addition to the nightly parade on Main Street U.S.A. Watch as your favorite characters make their way down Main Street, along with floats adorned with 1.5 million LED lights.
• Disneyland Forever, a twist on the nightly fireworks show featuring a new soundtrack and your favorite Disney Characters projected onto Sleeping Beauty Castle in the Magic Kingdom and Carthay Circle Theater in Disney California Adventure Park.
• World of Color - Celebrate, a look into Disney history. Using special effects and images projected onto a water screen, Celebrate will document how Walt Disney turned a dream into a reality that has been enjoyed by millions for the last 60 years.

Planning your trip to Disneyland in May

You have probably done a lot of research on the best times to visit Disneyland. You’ve probably concluded the best time is March through May (except Spring Break) and September through October. The park is not quite as crowded during those months because kids are still in school. That fact, combined with daytime temperatures in the mid to high 70s makes these months near-perfect times to visit.
